TASMANIAN BUSH FIRES INFORMATION - Swansea has not been directly affected by the recent fires, all roads in and out of the region are open, including the Coles Bay Road. The Freycinet National is open, and there are plenty of other places to visit too while you are here perhaps Maria Island National Park, Bicheno Penguin Tour, East Coast Nature World or go walking on one or more of our pristine beaches. Your hosts, Neal and Noel, welcome you to our hosted bed and breakfast accommodation in Tasmania's East Coast town of Swansea. From its elevated position overlooking the town, it is but a short walk to white sandy beaches, stylish cafés and award-winning restaurants.
Meredith House has provided accommodation for visitors to Swansea for over 100 years. Extensively renovated, Meredith House now offers every comfort for the discerning traveller including free WiFi and internet access.
Traditional B & B accommodation
Meredith House offers traditional hosted B & B acommodation, featuring excellent service, comfortable rooms and a legendary Tasmanian breakfast. Accommodation choices range from queen bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a family room or a three-room ground floor suite; whichever you choose, you may be assured of a comfortable night's sleep. Please note that most of our accommodation is upstairs on the first floor, and their isn't an elevator; so if you need ground floor accommodation please only book either the Heritage Spa Suite, or one of the Mews Studios.
The Mews Studios
Adjacent to Meredith House are four ground floor mews-style studio apartments, all have an ensuite bathroom, and three have a corner spa bath. Mews One, Two and Three have a queen size bed plus a single bed, comfortably accommodating two adults and a child. Mews Four has a Queen Bed only. Each of the Mews has a parking space to the front for ease of access, a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, and all the usual kitchen facilities (except a stove). The is a dining area with access on to a rear private verandah, where you can sit and watch the sun go down.

Swansea and Tasmania's East Coast
Swansea is an excellent base for touring Tasmania's sunny East Coast, including the beautiful Freycinet Peninsula and iconic Wineglass Bay - less than one hour's drive away. A day spent enjoying the rugged beauty of Freycinet National Park can be combined with a visit to one of the award-winning local vineyards.
