Updated 08 February 2013 TASMANIAN BUSH FIRES INFORMATION - Swansea has not been affected by the fires near Hobart or those in the extreme North East. All roads in and out of the region are open, there is no danger to people visiting the area. The Freycinet National Park is open. There are plenty of other places to visit too while you are here perhaps Maria Island National Park, Bicheno Penguin Tour, East Coast Nature World, Wineglass Bay Cruise or go walking on one or more of our pristine beaches. Situated on a hill in the centre of the historic seaside town of Swansea, overlooking the Freycinet Peninsula and Great Oyster Bay, Meredith House is a Heritage Tasmania and National Trust classified home, built in 1853 and furnished with hand-crafted red cedar furniture and family antiques.
Meredith House offers unique Colonial accommodation as well as mews-style studio accommodation. Facilities such as our lounge and well stocked library are shared by House and Mews guests. Meredith House and Mews also offers a guest laundry with washing and drying facilities, as well as free Wifi and internet access.

Bed and breakfast accommodation is offered in six rooms upstairs, as follows:
2 Queen rooms with Bay Views
1 Heritage Queen Room with views to the bay and Schouten Island
1 smaller Queen Room with views to the bay and Schouten Island

All rooms have ensuite bathroom facilities (shower), the Family room has a bath tub and a shower.
On the ground floor there is a beautiful two room suite with its own lounge, open fire and ensuite bathroom with corner spa.
Facilities include ensuites, Flat screen TV, Mini Bar, telephone, tea and coffee making facilities, complimentary port and our award-winning full cooked breakfast.
Meredith Mews accommodation
Adjoining Meredith House are four mews-style studio rooms, all with ensuite bathrooms, three also featuring a corner spa bath as well as shower. Three have a queen bed and a single bed, comfortably accommodating two adults and a child; while the fourth Mews has a Queen Bed.
Studios feature wide-screen TV's, a small kitchenette with microwave, electric frypan, fridge, toaster, crockery and cutlery, with a dining area adjoining your own private verandah and garden access. In front of each studio is a parking space for your convenience. Our award-winning full cooked breakfast is also included.

Meredith House gardens
Put your feet up and relax in our tranquil garden, set on approximately 1 acre, including lawn areas, fruit trees, a vast assortment of native and exotic plants, roses and shrubs. Meredith House gardens also features dining and barbecue areas with facilities for House and Mews guests.
